Hey,
Child Poverty is trying to be prevented, some programs are working some aren’t. Some of the programs that are working are:
-UNICEF
-Water project
-Sponsor a child
-Donate Clothing, money etc.
-The child poverty and prevention council (10th year running)
All of these programs are there for the same reason, to help get children out of poverty and to help then lead a healthy lifestyle. These programs are effective in giving children living in poverty hope for a healthy life, hundreds of children die every day because of hunger or hunger related causes. I for one do not think that this is rite and I stand with those trying to stop Child Poverty. Most of these programs also give the children safe food\water and clothing. If you have any information about child poverty please let me know. Thank you

Hey, my project on child poverty is going okay…but it could be better. I can’t find any specialists on the topic. I still need to do a couple things to finish up my project but nothing major. If you have any information on who and how I could get in contact with please tell me.

Hey, it’s me Kate
This post is obviously about poverty, I am a grade 8 student doing a project on Poverty, we got to choose our topics that we think is a major issue, there are people doing global warming, animal cruelty, eating disorders, there are a lot of issues that were thought of. I chose poverty because I thought it was horrible that people have to live on 2$ or less a day, and that money is used to support their family. I found this horrible. For this project I am supposed to try and find a solution to the problem of Poverty. Poverty is the fact that people die every day from things that most people take for granted like shelter, food, safe water to drink, health care, all those things and more. Another thing with this project is that I am trying to communicate with specialists on this subject so that I can ask them some questions about poverty. Thank you for reading, if you have any ideas or can tell me something on poverty, or you want to leave a comment asking a question or something then please leave me a comment.

Hey, by my title I’m guessing that you know what this post is about, but in case you don’t it’s about the ending of my outsider’s project. This book was my favorite book that I ever read; I like this book because it has great meaning of what friends are there for. In this post I’m going to talk about all of the pieces of this book like, the actual reading of the book, watching the movie, and also the final project that we had to do with a school in Los Angeles. It was a long commute but we made it through, I’m also going to right about the problems that we faced doing this project and my opinion of the book it’s self.
Book:
The book in my opinion was the best book ever! I like this book because it has allot to teach a person about life and showing what you take for granted others would take as treasure. Another opinion of this book would be I wish it were longer because I couldn’t put it down
but that is a good thing. I would recommend this book to everyone it’s a great book for both genders. The author, S.E Hinton wrote this book during a summer when she was young and in school. in the book there are greasers and socs (the social people, rich, spoiled, ect.) but the main group is the greasers, the main characters are Ponyboy, Darry, Dally, Soda pop, Johnny, Two-bit, bob, randy and cherry, bob randy and cherry are socs. Some of the main thoughts in the book are: Heroism, Fear, Death, Friendship, Survival, and in my opinion life.
Those are main thoughts because there’s allot of everything in there, the greasers they save children, they witness murder, they are normal people, they still feel fear, they have a strong bond with all their friends, they have to survive after all of the bad that went on, and it’s all in one life time, Ponyboy id only 14 and he has seen more than many people see in a lifetime. These children all come from bad homes, even the rich spoiled socs. This book shows that “things are bad all over”, that its self is a lesson I will never forget, that quote shows that people may have it bad but you won’t know until you actually know the person and have lives that person’s life, seen something bad happen, that is one of my favorite quotes in the book, Cherry is the one who says the quote. The reason I like this quote is because I find it interesting how she told Ponyboy that he is not the only one with problems, it really got to me and showed me that no matter how good life seems for others there are always problems.
Movie:
In the movie I found that they skipped a lot of parts in it, the movie isn’t very long but they got the important parts in it. One of the good things I found in the movie is that they tried to get the characters as close to the book as possible, like for Johnny, S . E Hinton said that Johnny had black eyes and so did the person who played Johnny in the movie. In the movie they captured the main events perfectly, with all the death and fighting there was in this movie they got the feel of this book right on. The movie didn’t have a big part to play in this project, but we got to watch it as an extra piece of it so that we could visualize what these kids were going through. My favorite part of the movie was when Ponyboy had gotten to the hospital when Soda and Darry walked in, I liked it because Ponyboy always thought that Darry hated him, but when Darry walked through those doors he started crying because he missed Ponyboy so bad, it was really emotional.
The Project:
For the final project Lindsay ( a girl that I have been working with from Los Angeles) and I worked on a voice thread that displayed one major problem that I will say later, you can see the voice thread HERE, this voice thread presentation revolves around one word…fear, fear plays a large part in out society, Fear is something that everyone experiences sometime or other in their lifetime. I picked to do fear because it’s a large topic and there are many fears like spiders, some people are afraid of dogs or clowns, even snakes or bugs, it’s a natural feeling to get scared, everyone does it so why hide it? Well some people try and hide their fears incase the persons friends or peers might make fun of them, but they get scared too. Another reason I picked fear is because it occurs a lot in the book “The Outsiders”.
Working With Lindsay was kind of difficult because we live so far apart, we only were able to talk a couple of times. The first way that we were able to talk to people in la was with a program called moodle which didn’t work at all, then we switched over to meebo.com which is like msn, when that didn’t work we had to download a program called skype which is a really great program, to get it all you have to do is go to skype.com and download it and here’s the best part…its free! So with skype you can talk to people all around the globe and you can type it or you could use audio or you could use video, or all three.
In the end I think that the project turned out pretty well despite the fact that we had audio problems and we had a misunderstanding about the recording of the pictures.
I enjoyed doing this project about “the outsiders” and I’m glad that the work is over…but at the same time I had fun with it and I didn’t want it to end.

Sadly we arrive at the last two chapters of the book, I chose survival for it because they are learning to survive without dally or Johnny, they are learning how to stand strong, they may cry every once and a while but they are learning how to cope with all of this death and agony. Ponyboy had the worst of it because he was only 14 when all of this happened. He saw more the a lot of people today see at that age, he’s been through a lot and then all of this death hits him like a wave of shock and emotion. In these chapters it tells how much pain and sadness that ponyboy darry soda Steve, and two bit are going through with the loss of their friends. It also tells the ponyboy’s marks were dropping and how he got an extra assignment to make up the marks he write an essay about his life, and that’s when he wrote this book.
That’s the end of it all

I think these chapters are about friendship because they all had each other’s backs during the rumble, I also think it’s about friendship because they all worked together to beat up the socs.
Friendship means a lot in a society, if people today didn’t have friends we would all probably become terrorists, we would have nothing to live for, to people today well most people today their friends are like family, that’s one of the reasons I chose friendship for these chapters. Another reason is that I picked friendship is because when Johnny died in these chapters, everyone was effected a lot, it’s amazing how much emotion a book can reveal about friendship, loyalty, fear, survival, heroism and most of all the bond between friends and family.

I picked fear for these chapters because everyone was scared that Johnny was going to die. Johnny was there pet their little brother, and everyone liked him, so when he got hurt it was I big loss for everyone, people feared the life that they would have without Johnny there, getting scared all the time. Especially dally, Johnny looked up to dally, dally was his role model, with Johnny not there to praise dally, dally would be heartbroken, scared, frightened. Another reason I picked fear is because they were afraid of how this would effect their lives, and how much they would miss him, fear of change, that’s why I picked fear for this chapter.

kate: what is power
Phillip: uh i think power is like something that u get
kate: i think power is a feeling, as in like feeling confident or feeling better then others, feeling love, feeling control…stuff like that..
kate: how does power effect a relationship?
Phillip: uh power can change the way people act with each other. like if a person get a lot of money they tend to get greety and the treat others in a bad way
kate: i think that power could effect a relationship by if people have power then they stary takeing advantaje of things and people untill its all gone, if people are in a relation ship where one of them has power then the other one is probably not going to stay with the other one
kate: what role does power play in a persons decition makeing prosses?
Phillip: i have no idea
kate: i think that the prosses that the role power plays in a human before they make a decition would be they would think, is this going to help me? or how is this going to effect my life? and it also helps people make the rite choice os the better choice because if you have lots of power then if you screw up your decition then you mess up alot of things
Phillip: i think that sometimes they want things done their way
kate: why is haveing power so important to a person?
Phillip: it is important because it is basicly wat runs the world today
Phillip:and it is wat let us live where we r now
kate:i think its authourty and so ou could tell people what to do, and so that you dont get stepped on in the socities today.
and so thats what we talked about on moodle that faithful night…who am i kidding thats what evryone talked about

I think these chapters are about heroism because Johnny and ponyboy saved some kids and helped them get out of the burning church.
In these chapters ponyboy and Johnny live in an old abandoned church together for a while because they had to hide out for a while so that the police for killing bob wouldn’t catch them.
When Johnny killed bob it was for self-defense and also Johnny wanted to save ponyboy.
Heroism is when someone does something heroic. Hence the name but heroism is not a word that is very often used.
Some people say that a police man is a hero or a firefighter is a hero but I find the best hero is the one who does it for free, police and firefighters get paid to help, its there job, but what ponyboy dally and Johnny did was heroic in the best kind of way, they did it out of there own good senses.
That’s why I would base these chapters on heroism.
