Is This True to You To?
May 13, 2008
What I know to be true is that no one can control your life but you. I used to think that you cant make your own choices without asking your mom, your dad or even your teacher. Think about it, well at least for me. I felt that my whole life was just a repeat of something I did before. In the morning I wake up, go to school, go home from school, do homework, go on the computer, do chores. none of those were my decisions. my mom would wake me up and send me to school, my teacher would make me do my work and go home, then the rest is my mom again! I hated it so I decided to talk control. I joined a military programme called Junior Canadian Rangers, it’s a fun group that lets you decide what you want to do and it gives you options. Now I learned how to make my own decisions and I discovered that life does give you choices. For example you can live your life to the fullest or you can mope around feeling sorry for yourself. Personally, about a year ago I chose to live my life to the fullest and I travelled to BC with the JCR’s ( the group I told you about earlier) and I went zip-lining, kayaking, mountain climbing, climbed 50 foot trees, canoed, did a high ropes course, and more. but my favorite part would have to be meeting all of the amazing people along the way. but don’t get me wrong, everyone has through rough patches. I used to hurt my body on purpose to try and take control of my life. until a great friend made me realize that all I was doing was hurting myself and not doing anything good. so I stopped. I may not be the smartest person on earth or the greatest inventor of all time, but if there’s one thing I do know, it’s that no one can run your life but you.

Kate this is a great post. That’s so great that you got to experience all those cool things when you went to B.C with JCR’s. I bet meeting all those people really inspired you. That would be great, I would really like to do something like this sometime.

Hey,
I enjoyed reading your blog. It is true about how the only person that could control you is you. No one can tell you what to do. Sometimes it is okay for your parents are teachers to tell you what to do to help you. You might not like what they tell you to do, but it is for your advantage. Do you have any other reasons you know that no one can take control of you? Hope to read from you again.

This is a nice blog! I never really though about this. You’re write, we should have the right to control our lives and we should be able to make our own decisions, now that we’re old enough. But i personally think that our parents our there to guide us, to help us make decisions until we can decide right for what’s best for us. don’t you?

Wow! Nice blog there. I honestly really liked your blog. It is true that our parents kind of make our choices. I haven’t really thought of that. Well good for your that you joined Junior Canadian Rangers. I can tell that it really helped you a whole lot. That must have been really cool in going to all those places. WOW! Great Work Kate

That week at BC was a lot of fun. I don’t think it was as much as an eye opener to me as it was to you, though. I can’t imagine not making my own decisions, or hurting myself. I love myself too much. It’s great that the JCR helped you so much.

Hi Kate,
I like your blog it was very interesting to read. It is true you do feel that the adults in your life are controlling you. But again you have to think they just want the best for you because if your mom didn’t take you to school you would have to education you have today. Plus you wouldn’t be how you are today in life and in education. So it’s alright to a certain point. And i think it’s really good having made some choices on your own without an adult telling you. So make the right choices.
Take care,
Brianna D.
