Teenagers…What Do They Need?

April 16, 2008

Hi,

I think that the biggest thing a parent could give their teenager is trust. I would say trust because If you think that you’re not trusted you’re probably going to thing that you never will earn the trust of your parents. I know that in most teenagers lives they often won’t tell their parents things because they would  be too scared that they would disappoint their parents. I find that it’s true. Also Teenagers need their parents to be understanding. For instance if you like a guy or girl that your parents haven’t met. They might not let you date them because they don’t know them or they think their “bad” but I think parents should trust their kid’s decision. If your teenager really likes that person that you probably have nothing against. That could be just what I think though. Teenagers also like being able to go out and have fun. So parents could give their child privileges, which also goes into the trust category by letting them do something and trusting them enough to be home on time or to stay safe. Those are the biggest things that in my opinion that a parent\guardian could give their teenager.

1) Trust.

2) Be Understanding.

3) Privileges.

Bye =)

    I agree with you. Teenagers need to have priviliges and have some freedom in their lives. They can’t always be controlled all their lives. So I agree!

    I think your totally right. Teenagers need to have some priviliges. We can’t just be inside the house the whole day doing nothing. We need to be trusted that we won’t be doing anything bad because we’re good kids. They also have to understand that we are teenagers and have friends that we would like to hang out with and they’re not bad friends. Good Job!

    Hi! I really agree with you when you say that: trust, understanding, and privileges are things that teenagers need. I really go on you with that because trust is a thing that you need because without trust you probably wouldn’t be able to go anywhere with out them probably going with you and taking care of you. Why? because they don’t trust you. So that definitely is a must. Also being understood is a great one because if you don’t have anybody to talk to your parents will be there for you and try to understand the situation your in. I also believe that privileges are a great thing because for one you don’t want to be in the house alone doing anything. second of all you want to have fun and hang around with your friends but to do that you have to earn your parents trust. Great job writing this.

    I really agree with you about TRUST! I think parents dont really give their children trust. Parents/gaurdians also dont let their children go out with their friends because they dont really trust them, they think they’re up to something bad. So i think the parents/gaurdians should give the some trust.

    I agre with you. i think that some parents should trust their children and limit our privileges due to our maturity.

    I think though are good ideas but letting them date I person that they never met. That is hard for a parent. I would think that they should meet the person first before saying “NO!” The opinion you had on trust is very true every teen wants and needs that from their parents. I like your opinion on things they are all very true in ways if you think about it. That was very good.

    I agree with you. Teenagers need to have priviliges and have some freedom in their lives. They can’t always be controlled all their lives. So I agree! I’m participating in the 2008 comment challenge
